Hot forming - Hot sizing |

In Hot Forming, the metal is heated above its transformation temperature. Less press capacity is needed to hot form a given shape than to cold form it. However the press, dies,… must withstand high temperature. Hot sizing is used to correct inaccuracies in shape and dimensions in cold preformed parts. Hot sizing uses the creep-forming principle to force irregularly shaped parts to assume the correct shape against a heated die by the controlled application of horizontal and vertical forces over a period of time. Buckles and wrinkles can be removed from performs in this way. These processes apply mainly on titanium, titanium alloys, high-strength low-alloy steels. In these two processes, the sheet is placed between a punch and a die. Forming may be achieved under neutral gas to prevent scaling, embritlement & oxydation. Typical titanium alloys applications
