SPF Presses are built with welded frames or on a 4-columns structure.
Their platens are made of ceramic blocks or refractory steel segments.
The choice between these different technical solutions depends on the intended use of the press :
- SPF-DB long cycles and laboratories: ceramic blocks on a press with welded frames
- SPF and industrial applications: metallic segments on a 4 columns structures
With ceramic platens, economical design suitable for lab & long SPF-DB cycles. Lower platen can be installed on a shuttle, giving easier access for tool loading.
This design is also convenient for small presses with metallic platens.
For easy access to large parts and tools, the 4-columns design provides higher possibilities :
- Lateral side may be used for shuttle for tool loading
- Front side can be fitted with manipulator for blank & part
- Spaces around the press may be organised for preparation, cleaning, tool cooling,...

Tool and Part Handling
ACB designs complete installations for SPF and SPF-DB purposes with field-proven solutions for :
- Tool handling in hot conditions
- Tool pre-heating ovens
- Tool cooling chambers
- Blank & part handling
Quality of the part depends very often of their handling and of their cooling conditions. Tool life-time are also significantly reduced in case of incorrect cooling and heating.
Economic operation of SPF presses depends of this environment.
